In the wake of recent incidents of suicide, a vast majority of campaigns have began advising individuals with depressions to talk to someone. This has lately seen a trend of various hashtags to promote this call, some of which include #SuicideIsNotAnOption #NoMoreSuicide and #SayNoToSuicide.
Dancehall Comedian, Foster Romanus, is of no different view and has come out to urge the patronization of the creative arts to help reduce suicide. Speaking to Comedy Empire, he said, “This should be a wake up call to the government to now invest into the creative arts.”
“Where the creative arts industry especially comedy, is heavily invested in and patronage is encouraged, suicide would be the last option. Comedians are humor therapists and if given the necessary attention, can reduce the rate at which these happen.”, He said.
The comedian, alongside his colleagues are putting up a campus show to create the awareness. Watch this space for more information.
